i take a little bit of sunshine in the keystone state
drop a tiny touch of moonshine by the dinner plate
it seems that somedays i'm a little more well
and every Sunday I've learned to pray like hell

sometimes I'm not much sometimes i'm it
some never get up i never quit
it makes me wonder no more than you
the things I'll say and the things I'll do
with the hope of feeling a little less remiss
the dread of adding another to our list
i take a little bit of happy with a pinch of salt
don't act so crazy and never take the fall
sometimes I'm not much sometimes i'm it
some never get up i never quit
it makes me wonder no more than most
the things i've seen or where i'll go pour it out a little faster slow it down a touch
make it last a little longer until the body goes numb
i swear i need this to sweat out the sun
my god i need this to keep from coming undone
sometimes I'm not much sometimes i'm it
some never get up i never quit
it makes me wonder no more than you the things i'll say or the things i'll do
i heard a whisper i heard a call
i heard a howlin' then heard nothing at all

The sky’s on fire again in southern California
The horizon’s black what else is new
LA’s dead, my eyes sting and my soul is worn
and I’m On the road again
Rain filled walks in the heart of Seattle
 Flying fish and coffee bars
Portland cries, come and make a home with me
and I’m On the road again Another chilly night surrounded by the Great Lakes
Keeping warm by the windshield defroster
Detroit mourns windswept smokestacks find a home
and I’m On the road again
Abandoned factories in northeast Ohio
Akron sings a rust filled song
Cleveland gloats but she ain’t that far off
and I’m On the road again
A vintage hotel room in southwest Missouri
 There’s another day ahead
St. Louis calls pass this way through my shining arch
and I’m On the road again
Winding roads through the great smokey mountains
All night drives sleep in cars
Knoxville yells take your yankee hide out of here
so I’m On the road again
The peace and quiet of rural Pennsylvania
Helps to ease my troubled mind
Pittsburgh waits two hours south from here
and I’m On the road again
Yea I’m on the road again
 On the road again

you've been torn into two
by all of those dirty things that you do
when all of the tidal waves washed out
a whirlwind came in and blew you down haven't you been quite through enough
you're hanging signs in your front lawn
 Depicting your candy coated sin
you lost what little love you'd found again
in all of the things you wish you'd done
like a patch that you use to cover up the stories you've been telling everyone
you try to buy your friends and you still got none
(you're falling behind and you're out of love)

it's all just a dream
 a whale of a tale
 it's just like the rest
it never took much to trick the best you did it well you live your lies
 oh and isn't it nice
 well the weather's getting cold
it twists and it turns creating folds
in all of the straight laced boys and girls
they're breaking the rules and they're taking their turns
to see who the first to fall will be
protecting their invulnerability in sweater weather smoke filled clubs
who ever said that once could ever be enough to learn about about ourselves
we have to appreciate the heaven
to get through these (our) hells
and file in a line so goddamn long
we have to find the time to write these goddamned songs
it's all just a dream
a whale of a tale it's just like the rest
it never took much to trick the best
i did it well i live my lies
 oh i live my lies
4.
Hey there Blue Eyes
You bring a smile to my face
You strike a light for every one
You bring a warmth to this place
You make a better man of me
You break me humble down to my knees
When it’s darkest you will see with those blue eyes

 Hey there Blue Eyes
You brought a spark to my life
We’re walkin’ through them hemlock trees
We’re easy livin’ like the breeze
you make a better man of me
you break me humble down to my knees
when it's darkest you will see with those blue eyes

 Hey there Blue Eyes
You wake me up in the night
We’re pickin’ on them gospel tunes
 Everything’s gonna be alright
you make a better man of me
you break me humble down to my knees
when it's darkest you will see with those blue eyes Life take you places you don’t expect
If there a straight path forward I ain’t found it yet
They say a man is the sum of his misfortunes
But I disagree I’d say it's the sum of how he loves

 Hey there Blue Eyes
Wasn’t sure I was meant for this
One thing’s for certain my son
 I promise I’ll never quit
you make a better man of me
you break me humble down to my knees when it's darkest you will see with those blue eyes

When it’s darkest you will see When it’s darkest you will see
When it’s darkest you will see with those blue eyes
5.
well save yourself save me the corners
hell lay it down and i'll raise the rest
i've done this before it's right that i warn you
when we get to town i'm waking up the dead when the sun's drawing down on you
old haunts that you can't turn to
you're a ghost just trying to pass through
so save yourself save me the corners
dark is setting on catch up before it's gone
take up a spark and burn the midnight oil
with a clear head pour one for your dead
wield your brush then paint that city red
when the sun's drawing down on you
old haunts that you can't turn to
you're just a ghost trying to pass through
well save yourself save me the corners

i could use a little help from having just a bite
if it's lights out maybe that'll learn us
 if'n i do i'm never not obliged
