Part IV - Led by Fireworks

from The God Fearing Boy by Fred Oakman

/

lyrics

It was a sleeping Sunday summer night, he found his lover on July the 4th. Oh the 4th. It was then that jogged his mind of when his mother used to comfort him from the fireworks. He spent the last few months hopping trains, hitching highways in the rain confused or just self conflicted. He found his lover in the grass under a bridge where cars would pass and go. Oh they’d go. Oh how they’d go. Oh they’d go. Oh how they’d go. But time stood still for both of them just long enough to take it in and know. That the fire in their eyes reflects the fire in that sky. The God Fearing Boy in awe, he swore he’d either met his God or something maybe bigger than them all. In the fire in that sky, much like the fire he held inside. The God Fearing Boy in awe, the girl she’d met Heaven’s love. Or something maybe bigger in her arms.
